Short-Term Rentals Such as Airbnb’s

Short-term rentals, including properties operated through Airbnb, VRBO, or similar online platforms, are not a permitted use within the Borough of Highspire.

Short-term rental uses are not identified as a permitted use under the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance. Such a use would require authorization by special exception as a use not provided for; a property may not lawfully be operated as an Airbnb or other short-term rental within the Borough without special exception approval.

Property owners considering the use of a residential property as a short-term rental are encouraged to contact the Borough before advertising or operating the property for transient or short-term lodging.  Property owners currently using their property as a short-term rental are in violation of the Borough’s Zoning Ordinance and will be cited for such violation.

For questions regarding zoning requirements or whether a proposed use is permitted, please contact Rachel Vega at the Borough of Highspire at 77-939-3303 or rvega@highspire.gov.
